The White Hart. Thanks Bevan for this fun and challenging piece. Making the gold chain, crown, and antlers stand out was a challenge but also really fun to do. A little bit of a background to this design; The White Hart, a personal badge worn by King Richard II, possibly derived from the arms of his mother, Joan “The Fair Maid of Kent”. It may have also been a pin on his name “Rich-hart”. In a portrait of him, the earliest authentic contemporary portrait of an English King, Richard II wears a gold enamelled white hart jewel. In English folklore, the white hart is associated with Herne the Hunter. There are still many inns and puns in England that display a sign of the white hart. It’s also still a popular name for business in England. I would love to tattoo more gold based pieces! Let me know what other gold things I could tattoo in the comments. 🦌 #thewhitehart #goldtattoo #colourtattoo #sydneytattoo #illustrativetattoo #tattooidea
